![]() ![]() Follow the instructions from Diesel Giant and be sure to vary the engine RPMs as you do the purge. anyone have experience with such a thing?ĭrew, that Diesel purge from Lubro Moly is really good stuff. If it is Glow Plug related, it's an easy fix. Just thought I'd ask for your opinions before getting in there and testing all of them. The only way I can describe it is a tonal vibration that I can feel more than I hear, 3 seconds the pitch raises up, and 3 seconds to come back down.įrom prior experience, it almost seems like an unbalanced crankshaft. I also notice that driving under load at higher speeds (50-60 mph), there's a hum coming from the engine that sounds almost like a WWII plane. The down side is that I think (hope) one of my glow plugs is bad because I have a moderately rough idle until the engine is warm. It starts up every single time now, and my battery drain issues have all but disappeared. In the mean time, I've taken the aftermarket, switch-operated glow relay and removed it, but I've been starting by cutting the positive (only) wire to the glow harness, extending it and touching it to the positive terminal of the battery for 30 seconds before I crank it. ![]() I've had an aftermarket Glow Relay since I got my G a few months ago, and am half-way through installing the OEM Mercedes relay (some more wires to splice and I'm good to go). I ran out of fuel yesterday, but this issue started before then. ![]()
